Ayala-led East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Company has already installed a total of 889,448 water service connections providing 24/7 clean and potable water to more than 6.2 million in eastern Metro Manila and several towns of Rizal Province.
For the third quarter alone of 2012, 2,294 new water services were connected serving an additional 4,711 households. Of this newly-installed water service connections, 2,234 are domestic or residential customers while 60 consists of the commercial consumers.
“It is Manila Water’s commitment to provide each and every resident of the East Zone with 24/7 safe and affordable water especially those belonging to the marginalized sector who had difficulty gaining greater access to water services in the past,” says Manila Water President and CEO Gerardo C. Ablaza, Jr.
“Since we started in 1997, an additional 3.2 million residents of the East Zone have been connected to our network and more significantly, 1.7 million of these, or more than one-half of the those given new water services, came from low-income communities,” Ablaza adds.
More families particularly in Rodriguez, San Mateo and Marikina were given new connections as a result of the completion of two big water system projects of the company: the North Rizal Water System Project and the soon-to-be inaugurated Penafrancia Water System Project. To date, Manila Water delivers approximately 1,120 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water, more than doubled the 440 MLD it used to supply way back in 1997.
Manila Water also assured its customers that the water quality at its distribution and plant outlets are fully compliant and consistently passed the stringent parameters of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
Manila Water is the private concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System providing water and wastewater services to Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Pateros, Mandaluyong, San Juan, portions of Quezon City and Manila and several towns of the nearby province of Rizal.
