Manila Water, the East Zone concessionaire for water and waste water services in Metro Manila, recently lauded partners for safety milestones in two ongoing projects. To celebrate one million safe man-hours within the Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant project, Manila Water recognized contractor SC-OTV while recognition was likewise given for the same achievement to JEC-FF Cruz Kingsford Venture for the Taguig North Sewer Network Project. The P2.7B Marikina North STP Project is a combined sewage and septage treatment plant and facilities for the benefit of more than half a million Manila Water customers. The Sewage Treatment Plant, with a capacity of 100 million liters per day (MLD) is being constructed at the Balubad Resettlement, Brgy. Nangka, Marikina City. The Taguig North Sewer Network project, on the other hand, will give birth to a 75 MLD treatment facility to serve around 400,000 residents of Makati and Taguig.
These safety milestones translated to zero accidents or safety incidents that may have hampered the construction of these facilities. As a result, these projects remain on track or are even way ahead of their respective completion dates. Both plants will be physically completed by next year.
“The sooner we complete these projects, the earlier our customers will enjoy the benefits of these facilities. That is why we value the careful attention our contractors give to safety in the work place as this allows Manila Water to deliver our services to the customers sooner and in the best way possible, ” said Estelita C. Orodio, OIC of Manila Water’s Projects Delivery Group.
Currently, Manila Water operates 36 sewage treatment plants and 2 septage treatment plants servicing its entire East Zone concession area. These plants have a combined capacity of treating over 135 million liters of sludge and wastewater per day.
